I’ve heard Chris Pratt is a decent guy, so why are people calling for removing him from the MCU Is it legitimately because of his irrelevant religious or political views?

He’s a part of a church that people say is anti-LGBT. Chris Pratt himself denies this, and says that “everyone is welcome in his church”. People will respond in a critical manner, like “sure it’s easy to say they’re welcome but doesn’t your pastor say anti-gay things?”

And yeah that’s all rather unfortunate but it’s also, ya know, his right? A lot of celebrities are religious one way or another. And religion is pretty critical of gay folks almost by design it seems. The outrage against Pratt seems… selective. He never personally said anything bad, or even remotely cancel-worthy, and yet people seem to have such a massive hateboner for this guy, it’s crazy. His director-turned-buddy James Gunn has come to Pratt’s defense, however. Sort of nipped the whole new “Lets fire Chris Pratt” hype in the bud.

Last year they tried to cancel the Marvel actor as well, that time because he had the audacity of saying in an interview that he felt “blessed” because his newborn daughter was healthy. People called Pratt a Nazi for “not appreciating his sickly firstborn son” with ex-wife Anna Faris. Guy can’t even be happy with his new family without people shitting on him, it seems. The year before that, it was his supposed political views — Pratt had failed to attend a pro-Biden fundraiser his fellow Marvel actors had gone to, which made Twitter freak out over the possibility of the superhero star being a “secret Trumpist”… all this with the guy never saying a word on his stance. James Gunn finally had enough.

And James Gunn has his reasons to stand by Pratt — Gunn himself was nearly cancelled a few years ago over some questionable old Tweets that were unearthed. Pratt was among those who stood by him at the time… now Gunn stands by Pratt. This is how Hollywood friendships should be; not like Seth Rogen throwing James Franco under the bus last year at the first sign of trouble.
